In Pune’s bustling district stands Malpani’s Bake-lite, a brand built on trust, tradition, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Malpani’s Bakelite is a brand born out of the need for pure vegetarian and hygienically made bakery products; offerings that were quite scarce in the Indian market during the 1990s. At a time when concerns around ingredients, hygiene, and food practices were growing, there was a clear gap for bakery products that aligned with Indian dietary values without compromising on taste or quality. Bake-lite emerged to fill that gap.

What began as a humble initiative in a 70 sq. ft. space at Harihar Mandir (the family’s deity temple), Pune with just 10 kg of maida, a small oven, and a mixer — laid the foundation for what would grow into a trusted household name. In its early days, the brand produced 5–10 kilograms of cookies daily under the name ‘Maharaja Gold’, driven by perseverance, and an uncompromising focus on quality.

As demand steadily increased, the company moved in 2003 to a larger 1,000 sq. ft. facility on Pune-Satara Road. This marked a pivotal phase in Bakelite’s journey where passion met scale, and artisanal care blended with structured manufacturing processes.

Guided by a commitment to finest-quality ingredients, strict hygiene standards, and 100% vegetarian production, Bake-lite earned the trust of its customers across Maharashtra. Today, the brand operates from a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art automation-driven facility in Narhe, supported by over 300 dedicated employees and skilled food technicians.

Bake-lite, even today, proudly stands firm on its “Shudh Shakahari” (pure vegetarian) promise and a legacy of care, commitment, and innovation. This conviction became the cornerstone of the brand’s identity.

About the Founder

Sachin Malpani

Sachin Malpani is the founder & driving force behind Malpani’s Bakelite, a leading brand in the bakery industry known for its high-quality vegetarian products. Born into a prominent Maheshwari family in Pune, his entrepreneurial journey began early, shaped by financial hardships and the decline of his family’s traditional tobacco snuff business. After 8 unsuccessful ventures, Sachin found his true calling in the food industry, where his passion for quality and innovation took root.

In 1999, Sachin began his bakery business with minimal resources, but a clear vision to change the narrative of the bakery industry i.e. unorganised players with unhygienic, shady practices. Despite product failures & financial struggles, Sachin remained determined to succeed. His commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, combined with his refusal to compromise on ingredients, eventually paid off.

Sachin’s professional achievements extend beyond business growth. He has built a strong, loyal network of distributors, workers, and suppliers, many of whom have been with him since the early days of the business. His leadership style, rooted in collaboration, humility and uplifting others, has been instrumental in the brand's success, making it a trusted name across India.
